Linux LiveCD with Alliance-5.0
This looks interesting. From the Alliance Users Mailing list:

Hi all,
I have just developed Linux LiveCD with Alliance-5.0 etc., for my next semesters class. This liveCD is based on SLAX-3.0.25. (see http://slax.linux-live.org/ for usage of SLAX)
The package (ISO file: about 300MB) is downloadable from http://shimizu-lab.dt.u-tokai.ac.jp/index.html
You can copy and re-distribute it freely.
After booting, login as root (SLAX way). Then you can start gui environment with 'go' command, and you will run a demo in the synthe-vhdl directory.
# cd synthe-vhdl
# make dreal
This will synthesize a simple HDL downto LSI chip layout.
EDA tools including:
sfl2vh: SFL to VHDL converter
sfl2vl: SFL to Verilog converter
Alliance-5.0 :-)
Icarus Verilog-0.7
GTKwave
I wrote some documents in the Documents direcotry of the CDROM. But PDF tutorials are written in Japanese for my students.
I hope this package will be useful for EDA learners. Any suggestions and/or hints for improvement will be appreciated.
